February 14 – Students evacuate Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after a shooting at the school killed 17 people in Parkland, Florida. Former student Nikolas Cruz, 19, was charged in the massacre. Court documents show that he confessed to being the gunman, but he stood mute in March and a judge entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
